Tien Giang, October 03 2015, The Dariu Foundation, in co-operation with Intel Products Vietnam, celebrates the opening ceremony of a new mobile school and container library funded by Intel, marking three years of sustainable and fruitful cooperation.
The mobile school is part of a three year grant agreement worth US $110,000 between TDF and Intel in the period of 2013-2015. This mobile school is a new model called foldable house, including 30 laptops connected to internet, LCD, air-conditioners, and network systems, will provide computer and internet skills training for around 1,000 students per year. Each course lasts three months and covering topics of basic Windows, Microsoft Offices and financial literacy.
The library, donated by Intel Foundation as part of its annual funding, was renovated from used container, which is donated by Intel Foundation, to contain over 1,000 school and reference books, 20 laptops, and can accommodate over 100 users daily. The total cost is over 300 million VND, of which Intel Foundation donated 5,000 USD (105 million VND), 10 laptops by Intel Products Vietnam and the remaining contributed by Mekong Community Development Center.
Via our mobile facilities, the rural youth have access to computers and internet as well as skills training courses. Because the mobile schools move on a regular basis of every three months, the students may have no access to computers for practice. Therefore, the library is developed to secure the results of computer training program as well as improve reading habits and access to internet for the youth. This is the first time, there is such a library to allow students to borrow a laptop for use at home.
